Wintrust Credit Academy: Your Path to Success in Commercial Banking

Discover Wintrust’s highly regarded rotational credit analyst training program, Wintrust Credit Academy (WCA). Over two years, you will explore various aspects of Commercial Banking, gaining hands-on experience through classroom training and rotational assignments.

Credit analysts are responsible for financial analysis and risk assessment of potential borrowers, preparation of credit memoranda to be presented to senior management, and monitoring credit risk within various loan portfolios. The rotational component of the program includes terms in areas such as:

  • Commercial & Industrial
  • Commercial Real Estate
  • Wealth Services
  • Asset-based Lending
  • And many more!

Analysts will collaborate with commercial lenders and credit professionals and will receive on-the-job training while working on actual loan proposals for Wintrust Commercial Banking clients.

Through in-classroom training, analysts will also learn about our organization, our services and solutions, our clients, and our business practices. During this portion of the program, individuals will be introduced to the fundamentals of credit analysis, our underwriting framework, and various other subjects including loan documentation, risk assessment and concise financial writing.

“Wintrust’s smaller size and focus on the Chicagoland community creates an opportunity for analysts, who are typically viewed as lower on the corporate ladder, to have access to CCOs, presidents, market heads, etc. It has always been apparent that the entire corporation supports the program.”
Julia N., Senior Portfolio Manager, Wintrust Bank, N.A. and Wintrust Credit Academy Graduate

“What sets the WCA program apart is how friendly everyone is and how willing they are to help analysts learn and succeed. There are a lot of opportunities to meet with senior management, WCA graduates, experienced underwriters, PMs, and bankers across the bank and ask them questions. You can’t find a better Commercial Banking training program anywhere; the support and training you get at Wintrust is unparalleled.”
Jess M., Underwriter, Lake Forest Bank & Trust Company, N.A. and Wintrust Credit Academy Graduate

“I think what sets the WCA program apart is the culture. I not only enjoy working with everyone in my group/program, but I like spending time with many of them outside of work as well. I think that can be a rare thing these days, and is a testament to not only the program but the company as a whole. I feel like everyone who is hired has a great personality and is very open to meeting new people. It is a very inclusive environment that makes me look forward to going to work each day.”
John W., Rotational Credit Analyst, Wintrust Credit Academy
