The Mural Building: Ronald McDonald House Charities

We’re excited to debut our mural showcasing Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (RMHC-CNI), a nonprofit that supports families with critically ill children.

At five area Ronald McDonald Houses® and three Ronald McDonald Family Rooms® in the Chicago area, RMHC-CNI keeps 162 families close to their hospitalized children. This support system puts the child’s wellbeing first and saves families more than $10 million in hotel and food costs each year. They also offer the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® program, providing medical care to children in underserved areas.

We took the inspiration for this mural artwork from the imagination of a child who has benefited from RMHC-CNI’s services. The mural takes the viewer on a three-step journey that a family would embark on to find medical care. They are embraced by all the health care professionals who help them get better together, and then they make their journey back home together. Artist and illustrator Jean Tuttle brought this story to life with whimsical creativity and heart. Since togetherness is at the center of RMHC-CNI’s mission, we hope viewers take in that message, as well as the themes of hope, home, love, care, and comfort¬¬, all of which surround families at RMHC-CNI.

For many years, Wintrust has partnered with RMHC-CNI, providing support and resources that enable more families to get better together. From event sponsorship to brand awareness opportunities, we’re humbled to help make an impact on the lives of so many families and kids in need. Wintrust Marketing’s Matt Doubleday also serves on the RMHC-CNI board of directors.

RMHC-CNI is asking the community to come together to help families with hospitalized children stay together as they receive critical medical care. This summer, there’s been a sharp rise in demand from families. In addition, due to the pandemic, RMHC-CNI continues to recover from the loss of many volunteers they relied on to serve families every day. But together, we can make a difference.
