July 10, 2019 – Rosemont-based financial services company Wintrust sponsored an event with Good Sports, an organization that provides sports equipment, apparel, and footwear to youth programs in need, on June 20 at Mercy Home Soccer, in Chicago, that provided $70,000 worth of sports equipment to seven local youth-serving programs.
“We’re proud to support the important work Good Sports does for local kids,” Wintrust Commercial Banking Executive President John Dvorak said. “Sports play a huge role in life. They teach you how to compete, how to practice good sportsmanship, and how to win and lose.”
Nearly 50 Wintrust volunteers packaged 2,970 pieces of sports equipment to be distributed to kids at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, KIPP Chicago Schools, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, Christ the King High School, After School Matters, and Chicago Jesuit Academy.
“Having a partner like Wintrust allows Good Sports to reach so many kids across Chicago,” said Good Sports Chicago Market Director Toby Emms. “Without a partner like Wintrust, thousands of kids across Chicago would be left on the sidelines without the opportunity to participate and be physically active.”
Through Good Sports’ additional partnerships with equipment manufacturers, Wintrust’s $45,000 donation provided $70,000 worth of equipment and will benefit more than 22,000 Chicago children.
“Having new sports equipment enhances a child’s club experiences over the summer,” Boys and Girls Club of Chicago Manager of Corporate & Volunteer Relations Jason Vasquez said. “It means so much to them and brings a big sense of pride.”
