Meet White Sox superfans: The Dynia family

For the Dynia family, the White Sox aren’t just a baseball team. They’re family. This makes sense for people who have lived in Chicago’s southern suburb, Oak Lawn, all their lives and have been Sox fans just as long. They love to go to games and the team has given them years of memories.

Mark Dynia says, obviously, one of his favorites was when the team won the World Series. But, another was one game in particular where he took his daughter. She was just about one and they came to the game early to catch batting practice. As they watched from right field, Mark yelled to Magglio Ordonez to ask for a ball. It worked! Magglio threw one into the stands for them and, later during that same game, hit a homer.

But, the White Sox have also encouraged the family to get involved with the team in other ways that impact the community. They’ve been White Sox Volunteer Corps members since the organizations start in 2009. The White Sox Volunteer Corps is made up of nearly 5,000 Sox fans, and community-oriented citizens, excited to get involved with service opportunities in the local area. The organization’s events incorporate support from team players, coaches, the team mascot, Southpaw, staff and community members.

For the Dynia family, being a family of Sox superfans means enjoying their team and doing their part to give back.
